In this assignment, write 5-6 pages (ballpark figure. It could be more or less depending on what you want to say) in which you explore the themes of Flannery O’Connor. The best assignments will pick up on a theme, like the force of evil, or that of Christian humility, or how all people are God’s children and therefore equal in the eyes of god, and so forth, and explore that theme in some detail, using at least 2 of the 3 stories as source material.  I think that all of us, if we are southern, know characters like O’Connor writes about, so some of you might explore these stories in your own unique contexts. Other of you might have little experience with religion, and you can bring that perspective to the project. It really is up to you. I just want to push you to exercise your intellectual abilities, to think about these themes and take them very seriously.
